Wins for Minors & U14s

It proved to be a great Saturday for both U14 and U18 squads with a double header of games at Paddy Cullen Park, with both teams securing hard earned victories.

Under 14s Get First Win.
The U14 boys had their first home league of the season last Saturday against Greencastle.  After a narrow defeat in their first game away to Derrylaughan the boys were keen to get their league points of the season and they did not disappoint.  Playing with a strong wind in the first half the boys opened up good lead by half time with some fine scores being taken by Niall McMurray, Seamus Glackin, Peter McGurk.and Eoin Gallagher.  The second half was always going to be a lot more difficult playing against the wind but the boys showed great character and determination in their play.  The whole defence put in a great effort in the second half, and the midfield of Eoin Gallagher and Nathan Connolly worked tirelessly throughout.  Up front a number of changes were made in the second half with Terry Devlin showing up well when he came on and Matthew Mulligan grabbing a couple of goals.  Overall a great team performance and a well deserved win for the boys.  Next up is an away match to Kildress on Saturday.

Minors defeat Kildress.
The minor game proved to be a hard hitting contest against neighbours Kildress, with the young Rocks running out convincing winners on a scoreline of 4-6 to 0-8. D Teague [1-5], M Hetherington [2-0], C O’Neill [1-0] and C McNicholl [0-1] were the Father Rocks marksmen on the day. Next up for the minors is an away trip to Eglish (4pm) on Sunday.
