Statement with Trillick!
Fr Rocks seniors faced Trillick at Paddy Cullen Park on Saturday afternoon and the sides finished level after a topsy turvey affair which saw both teams lead at different times in the game. Fr Rocks will look upon it as a point lost, having dominated possession for much of the game, but failing to take their chances in a game dominated by defensive football. Cookstown got off to a great start and hit the first four scores without reply, with Christopher Eastwood, Owen Mulligan and a Raymond Mulgrew double putting them in pole position. Trillick however clawed their way back into the contest and two free kicks from Niall Gormley followed by two scores from play, brought them level just before the break. A great individual score from Christopher Eastwood however left the Rocks a point ahead at the break on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-4. In the second half Fr Rocks found it hard to get past a packed Trillick defence, and the visitors led after ten minutes following a Niall Gormley free. Cookstown however hit back and scores from Conor Mullan, Christopher Eastwood (2), and a brilliant individual score from Raymond Mulgrew after being dragged down in the small square, left Cookstown a point ahead with a minute remaining. However  a late free kick from Richard Donnelly saw the contest end in stalemate on a final scoreline of 0-9 to 0-9. Scorers:  C Eastwood 0-4 (1free), R Mulgrew 0-3, O Mulligan 0-1, C Mullan 0-1.
