Rocks take the points in Derrylaughan

Fr Rocks seniors secured their second win of the season with a great team performance in Derrylaughan on Friday evening.  The Rocks got off to a flying start with Christopher Eastwood splitting the posts in the opening minute. Cookstown dominated the opening exchanges and two Owen Mulligan frees, followed by scores from play from Shea McGarrity and Ryan Pickering, were matched by a superb solo goal from Christopher Eastwood, leaving the score 1-5 to 0-1 after ten minutes. Derrylaughan to their credit did respond and a point and goal from McStravog offered them a lifeline. Fr Rocks however responded again and when John Gilmore found the net after an Owen Mulligan point, they were in control. Derrylaughan responded with five scores before the break, but points in between from Christopher Eastwood and Barry Hughes left the score at half time 1-7 to 2-8 to the visitors. The teams exchanged scores throughout the second half and a brilliant goal from James McGahan in the fourth minute, effectively finished the contest. Cookstown pushed on and a wonder point from Owen Mulligan was followed by scores from McGahan, McGarrity, Eastwood and Ruairi Mullan. The final score finished 1-10 to 3-14. This was a great all round team performance with Fr Rocks full forward line kicking 3-5 between them. Fr Rocks scorers; C Eastwood 1-3, J McGahan 1-2, J Gilmore 1-0, O Mulligan 0-4 (2frees), R Pickering 0-1, B Hughes 0-1, R Mullan 0-1, S McGarrity 0-2.

Fr Rocks reserves continued their impressive league form with another high scoring win over Derrylaughan on Friday night.  A sixteen point win for the young Rocks reserves leaves them top of the table after four games played.
