Club Notes 22/4/13

posted Apr 22, 2013, 11:40 AM by Martin McGirr

This week's lotto numbers were 10-11-16-17. There were four match three winners who each won £25. The jackpot next week is £5700.

Senior Fixtures

Fr Rocks seniors travelled to Omagh for the opening game of the 2013 season on Sunday afternoon. There was no fairytale return to senior football as the hosts took the points in an exciting game. Fr Rocks paid the price for not taking their chances in a game which they dominated for long periods. The Rocks got off to a slow start and they found themselves 1-3 to 0-1 down after ten minutes. However they fought back and scores from Owen Mulligan, Conor O’Hare and James McGahan, who each kicked a brace of points kept them in contention. It was a lack of efficiency in front of goal which would ultimately separate the two teams, with Omagh taking their chances when they arrived. Cookstown however can take great confidence in what was a good all round team performance with impressive displays from Raymond Mulgrew, Marty Murray and Jason Quinn. The foundations for a good season ahead could be seen on Sunday.

Fr Rocks scorers: James McGahan 0-2 (1f), Conor O’Hare 0-2, Raymond Mulgrew 0-1,  Conor Mullan 0-1, Owen Muligan 0-1, Barry Hughes 0-1.

Ladies Notes

The club hosted a very enjoyable U10 girls blitz on Saturday 13th at Paddy Cullen Park.  Clubs taking part were Errigal Ciaran (2 teams),  Aodh Ruadh (2 teams),  Fr. Rocks (2 teams), and the Rock. There were some terrific skills displayed and well done to all the young girls who took part. A big thanks to the coaches who organised the day and to the parents who helped out with the refreshments. Thanks also to the U14 girls, Caoimhe, Hannah and Lauryn for all their assistance. Training continues for U10 and U12 girls every Friday 6.15pm to 7.15pm.

Condolences

The club would like to express deepest sympathy to the McGee, Farrell and Gilmore family and also to the Bell and Rushe family on their recent bereavements.
